Susan A. Jackson is internationally recognized as having made significant contributions to the development of research into flow in physical activity settings. Jackson has researched the flow concept for the past 10 years and published widely on the topic. Flow in Sports: The Keys to Optimal Experiences and Performances, was co-authored by Susan with the founder of flow theory, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Jackson has also been involved in several scholarly journal articles reporting on flow research in physical activity. Jackson began work on the flow scales in the mid 1990s. This manual and the DFS-2/FSS-2 represent the current stage of the research that Jackson and colleagues have undertaken on developing self-report instruments to assess flow.
