Joan L. Duda

Dr. Joan L. Duda is a full professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Leisure Studies and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. She received her Ph.D. in sport and exercise psychology in 1981 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Duda has been a member of the executive boards of the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, the Sport Psychology Academy, the International Society of Sport Psychology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education. She is a past editor of the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology

and remains on the editorial board of this journal as well as the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. Dr. Duda has over 80 scholarly publications focused on sport and motivation and the psychological dimensions of sport and exercise behavior. She has been an invited speaker in 15 countries around the world. For over 10 years, Dr. Duda has been involved in applied work with athletes and coaches in a variety of sports at all competitive levels. She is a Certified Consultant of AAASP and is listed on the U.S. Olympic Committee�s Sport Psychology Registry. Since 1992, Dr. Duda has been the consultant for the USA Gymnastics Women�s Artistic Program. Her hobbies include music, traveling, and playing tennis.
