Details/Requirements: University of Florida, Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management College of Health and Human Performance Assistant or Associate Professor (9-month tenure accruing position) Position # 0009177 (Specialization: Sport Management)Responsibilities: Professionally prepare and mentor Ph.D., Master's, and Undergraduate students majoring in sport management and/or tourism; maintain an active research agenda with a focused research line that results in continued scholarly achievement and external funding; supervise student field experiences; and engage in professional service activities. Candidates must be able to teach a wide variety of classes in Sport Management (e.g., some combination of Management of Sport Organizations, Sport Sociology, Sport Marketing, Facilities & Event Management, Sport Finance, etc.), and have a strong interest in developing the skills to independently direct graduate student research. Candidates must also have the capabilities to work on preexisting grants and/or create funded projects for the Center for Tourism Research and Development that may focus on economic impact analysis, destination marketing or industry related marketing. Candidates should also have research strands that mesh with at least one of the following two research foci of the department: 1) Improving the understanding of psycho-social difference factors that lead individuals and families to value recreation, sport, and tourism, and/or 2) Helping communities improve environmentally sensitive tourism, sport, and recreation opportunities, to benefit quality of life for individuals and families. Qualifications: Completed doctorate in sport management or closely related field of study by August 2006; established or emerging scholar in sport management (with an interest in tourism) with an active research agenda; and committed to excellence in higher education teaching and service.
