Jacquelyn Cuneen is a Professor in Bowling Green State University's internationally renowned Sport Management Program. Her main teaching areas are sport and event promotion and sport management field experiences. Her research foci are sport-related advertising and professional preparation of sport managers. She has authored or co-authored scholarly and professional articles for such publications as the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Women in Sport and Physical Activity Journal, Journal of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, Journal of College Admission, and numerous others. She is co-author of the first textbook written specifically for sport management experiential education, Sport Management Field Experiences, the first publication in the FIT's Sport Management Library Series. She is a charter research fellow in the North American Society for Sport Management and a charter scholar in the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
Prior to her academic career, Dr. Cuneen was Account Executive, Director of Women's Programming, and Educational Correspondent for two New York State-based ABC radio affiliates. She is a former President of the NASSM and is currently Ohio's Representative to the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport. She was the 2001 West Virginia University Sport Management Distinguished Alumna of the Year. In 2003, she was the recipient of the Dr. Earle F. Zeigler Lecture Award, NASSM's highest honor. She was a member of the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Sport Management and International Journal of Sport Management, and still reviews for the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (JOPERD), and Future Focus.
James M. Gladden is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Sport Management at the University of Massachusetts. He researches sport brand management, athletic fundraising, sport sponsorships, and cause-related sport marketing. He has published articles in academic journals such as the Journal of Sport Management, the International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Sport Management Review, and the International Sports Journal, and in sport industry publications such as Street & Smith's Sport Business Journal, and Athletic Management. He has also provided brand management consulting to a number of organizations, including the National Basketball Association and the Ladies Professional Golf Association.
Dr. Gladden has over 10 years of sport marketing research and consulting experience. From 1991 to 1994, he was a Project Director for DelWilber + Associates (DWA) in St. Louis. While there, he conducted sport and lifestyle market research for such clients as Alka-Seltzer Plus, Bell Atlantic, the Chrysler Corporation, Iowa State University, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Ladies Professional Golf Association, Mazda Motors of America, the National Football League, Purdue University, and Taco Bell. Since leaving DWA, he has provided strategic marketing consulting to corporations, sport teams, and governing bodies such as the Cleveland Cavs, Compaq Computer Corporation, Major League Baseball Properties, that National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the United States Figure Skating Association. Dr. Gladden earned a Bachelors degree in Communication Arts & Sciences from DePauw University, a Masters in Sport Management from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
